Factual programming:
Genre of program that documents real events and real people
Accuracy - The condition or quality of being true, correct, or exact; freedom from error or defect; precision or exactness; correctness
Balance -
Impartiality - Not partial or biased; fair; just:
Objectivity - Objectivity is a noun that means a lack of bias, judgment, or prejudice. For example: "Maintaining one's objectivity is the most important job of a judge" as "He tries to maintain objectivity in his judgment."
Subjectivity - Subjectivity is the condition of being a subject: i.e., the quality of possessing perspectives, experiences, feelings, beliefs, desires, and/or power "Listening to music has historically made people feel free and let us revel in our subjectivity"
Opinions - The personal viewpoints and ethos held by an individual
Bias - Representing the subject in an unrealistic way in order to achieve certain means.
Representation - The way in which a piece of media or individual is made to appear in terms of appearance, character and usefulness.
Access - The ability to receive the media piece

Codes and Conventions
News -
Codes -
Graphics: It is typical for news channels to have on screen graphics that illustrate the information, as well as provide summaries of news stories. For example, the BBC news channel constantly has a lower third that is there to summaries the subject matter, as well as occasionally draw viewers in with eye-catching headlines and term "Breaking News". There is also the scrolling bar at the bottom of the screen which summarizes the days news. All of this would be presented in a way which represents the particular media outlet, which is why the company/production logo if almost always displayed within the lower third.
Occasionally computer graphics are used to illustrate events in a more visual way, for example many media outlets when covering the topic of the war in Afghanistan chose to use CGI to give the viewers a better insight into an operation or particular area. This way the journalists are able to keep the news interesting in cases when they are unable to report on location.
Conventions -
Shot types: Within the news industry, many fact based reports are presented like miniature documentaries. For example, at the beginning of many reports on subjects usually related to social action (Awareness raising ect.), there is the typical Establishing shot that gives the viewer information about the location used - whether it is local, overseas .ect.)
